|  | Denver Nugget Rudy Fernandez Has Successful Back Surgery | April 2, 2012 | (DENVER)- Rudy Fernandez, a guard with the NBA’s Denver Nuggets, had successful back surgery on March 29. Dr. Sanjay Jatana performed the surgery at Rose Medical Center in Denver. Fernandez is expected to miss the rest of the regular season but could make it back in time for the playoffs if the team gets in.
Fernandez missed a dozen games earlier in the season with a lower back strain. When the condition flared up again, further evaluation determined that surgery was an appropriate treatment.
“We’re optimistic that Rudy will be able to resume his career after completing his rehab,” said Dr. Jatana. “His youth and athletic ability should help his recovery go smoothly.”
